WHAT IS
NIGHT SANCTUARY

Night Sanctuary is a weekly overnight service offering safety, warmth and rest for people experiencing homelessness or hardship. It provides a calm, respectful space to share dinner and sleep overnight in a supported environment.

Night Sanctuary runs once a week and is designed to offer peace of mind at the end of the day a place to slow down, feel safe and be cared for through the night.

How Night Sanctuary Works

Register during the day (10am-12pm)

Registration takes place on Wednesday between 10am and 12pm. During this time, visitors complete a short registration form with the support of our team.

Return in the evening (5pm)

Registered visitors are asked to return from 5pm, when Night Sanctuary opens and sign-in begins. To help keep things calm and comfortable for everyone, we ask that people don’t gather outside the building between 3pm and 4:45pm, while the centre is closed and we prepare for the evening.

Dinner and settling in (from 6pm)

The evening begins with dinner at 6pm, shared together in a welcoming space.

Wind-down time (from 7pm)

After dinner, the evening moves into a quieter time to prepare for the night. Visitors are invited to shower, freshen up and get ready for bed.

For everyone’s comfort and safety, separate shower facilities and sleeping areas are provided for men and women. Showers are part of the Night Sanctuary routine and are required before accessing sleeping areas, helping ensure hygiene and wellbeing for all.

Bedtime (from 8pm)

By 8pm, lights are dimmed and everyone settles in for the night. The space is kept calm and quiet to support rest and sleep.

Arriving safely and shared guidelines

To help keep Night Sanctuary safe, calm and respectful for everyone staying overnight, we ask visitors to arrive not under the influence of alcohol or drugs and to agree to follow the shared guidelines of the space.

These guidelines help care for everyone and include:

Zero tolerance for inappropriate behaviour or misconduct
Mobile phones handed in at 5pm to support rest and privacy
A curfew once inside, if you leave after entering, you won’t be able to return
Bag checks on entry, carried out respectfully by the team

These guidelines help create an environment where everyone can feel safe, supported and able to rest. Our team is always available to explain anything or offer support if needed.
