What happens when there is nowhere to go?

When Emmanuel City Mission closes its doors each day, hundreds of people are left to face the night with nowhere to go. No shelter. No safety. No comfort.

That’s why we’re taking the first step toward opening 24/7, starting with one night a week.

Director, Roby Curtis, spent one night sleeping rough alongside Jake, a visitor of the Mission. With no money and no plan, they experienced what it means to be truly vulnerable on the streets of Brisbane.

The need is urgent…and growing.

Since Cyclone Alfred, Emmanuel City Mission has witnessed a heartbreaking rise in need. On some days, over 400 people come through our gates — desperate for warmth, food, clean clothing, and human connection.

That’s more than double our usual numbers.
And yet, our capacity hasn’t doubled.

Without access to night shelter, our visitors are forced into the streets, exhausted, scared, and alone. One night of warmth, safety, and sleep can restore hope and strength.

But we can’t do it without you.

Emmanuel City Mission is a daytime sanctuary, open to anyone doing it tough.

Each day, we welcome up to 400 people who are experiencing homelessness, hardship or social isolation, offering them more than just a meal or a shower. We offer dignity, connection, and a safe place to rest.

We are 100% community funded and volunteer-run, and rely on the generosity of people like you to keep our doors open. We need your help to ensure that Emmanuel City Mission can continue to provide vital services to those in need including:
