Breaking bread, sharing hope

In the heart of Brisbane, a heartwarming partnership has been quietly nourishing both body and soul. For over three years, The Bakeologists, a beloved family-owned bakery with stores in New Farm and The Gap (and a market stall at West End markets every Saturday), has been on a mission to share more than just bread—they've been sharing hope and solidarity with those in need.

A Partnership Forged in Dough

Since June 2020, The Bakeologists have stood by Emmanuel City Mission as dedicated partners, driven by a shared belief in the power of community and the transformative potential of a warm meal. What started as a simple gesture of goodwill has blossomed into a significant partnership that has touched the lives of countless individuals.

A Sizable Slice of Generosity

Over the course of these three years, The Bakeologists have delivered an astonishing 56,000 bread rolls to Emmanuel City Mission, totalling a whopping 5 tonnes of bread. That's enough bread to fill hearts and plates, sustaining hope and nourishing the bodies of our visitors. In doing so, they've helped us save over $40,000 in costs, allowing these vital resources to be redirected where they are needed most—providing comprehensive assistance to those experiencing homelessness and vulnerability.

Owner Jason Kynaston of The Bakeologists encapsulates the partnership's spirit beautifully, saying, "Our aim has always been to contribute to our local communities in meaningful ways. Partnering with ECM has allowed us to make a direct impact on those who need it most, one bread roll at a time. It's a privilege to be part of their mission."

Baking a Brighter Tomorrow

As The Bakeologists continue to knead dough and spread goodwill, they inspire us all to look for ways to contribute to our communities and uplift those in need. Their partnership serves as a shining example of how the simplest acts of generosity can ignite hope and create positive change in the world.
